The Witcher: Fate's Interlude
INT. TAVERN - NIGHT
The tavern is dimly lit and filled with various CREATURES engaged in drinking, gambling, and rowdy behavior. GERALT stands at the bar, deep in thought as he nurses a pint of ale.
JASKIER, the bard, sits at a nearby table, strumming away at his lute, trying to create a new song. People around are IGNORING him.
JASKIER (singing)
His stare a torrent, white hair wild storm,
The Witcher gazes as fate's interlude has sworn.
GERALT
(not impressed)
Honestly, Jaskier, you've written better.
JASKIER
(smiling)
It's a work in progress, Geralt. Besides, it needs a story first before greatness can unfold.
As they converse, MYSTERIOUS FIGURE, a hooded individual, sits alone at the edge of the tavern, watching their interactions.
EXT. TAVERN - NIGHT
YENNEFER and CIRI, out for a stroll, notice Geralt's horse, Roach, tied up outside the tavern.
YENNEFER
It seems we've found our dear Witcher.
CIRI
(smiling)
Should we go in?
YENNEFER
Not yet; we need to catch up. Stay here, and I'll be back shortly.
INT. TAVERN - NIGHT
YENNEFER enters the tavern and approaches Geralt, who is still at the bar, drink in hand.
YENNEFER
I see you're chasing away monsters again.
GERALT
(smirking)
And I see you've managed to leave part of the chaos outside.
YENNEFER
Ciri is safe; she's catching up with the locals. Meanwhile, we have matters to discuss.
JASKIER
(interjecting)
Ah, a reunion! This will make for an excellent verse in my song.
GERALT
It's not a reunion if you're still here, Jaskier.
JASKIER
Well, you can't very well have a dramatic entrance without me.
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE, now intrigued, approaches them from the shadows, pulling back their hood to reveal a scarred face and a keen interest in Geralt.
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE
(angry)
Witcher! You will pay for what you've done.
GERALT
(calculated)
And what is it I am supposed to have done?
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE
My village was destroyed, my people slaughtered by a beast you failed to fulfil a contract upon.
GERALT
I can assure you, I've completed every contract I've taken…
YENNEFER
(unamused)
Well, most of them, at least.
GERALT
(ignoring Yennefer)
Tell me, what was the creature, and why do you seek me out?
MYSTERIOUS FIGURE
The creature was a leshen, and I seek vengeance.
GERALT
Sadly, I've dealt with no leshen recently. You might have me confused with someone else.
YENNEFER
Or perhaps you were tricked by someone claiming to be a witcher.
The mood in the tavern has changed, everyone paying attention to the conversation at hand.
GERALT
I will help you with your leshen, but only if you swear to stop this path of vengeance.
MYSTEREOUS FIGURE
(considering)
So be it, but only if it falls before us.
JASKIER
A twist of fate and newfound foes - this song just got a whole lot better!
GERALT
(rolling his eyes)
Just when I thought it couldn't get worse…
They each reach an agreement, with TENSION hanging in the air.

EXT. RURAL VILLAGE - DAY
A tranquil village, nestled at the foot of craggy mountains. GERALT OF RIVIA, the Witcher, rides through on his faithful horse, ROACH.
Villagers scattered about cease their activities and watch Geralt with a mixture of fear and curiosity.
Geralt notices the VILLAGE ELDER, an old, haggard man, sitting on a bench.
GERALT:
(To Village Elder)
I'm looking for work. Any monsters that need slaying?
VILLAGE ELDER:
(In a raspy voice)
Aye, Witcher. We've got a problem plaguing our village. Something wicked has been killing our livestock during the night.
Geralt dismounts Roach, eyeing a mutilated sheep corpse strewn nearby.
GERALT:
I'll take care of it. But it comes with a price.
VILLAGE ELDER:
Two hundred and fifty orins, no more. The village cannot afford more than that.
GERALT:
Deal. I'll start by examining the kill site.
INT. TAVERN - NIGHT
A raucous scene. Villagers drink and flirt, loud laughter filling the air.
In the corner, Geralt sits with the village MAYOR, a burly, red-faced man in his fifties.
MAYOR:
Those killings started a week ago, and every night another creature is slaughtered. No one's seen the culprit though.
GERALT:
It seems our monster is fast... and smart.
MAYOR:
(Leaning in)
Word in the village is that it might be a wraith, seeking vengeance for past sins. Are we cursed, Geralt?
GERALT:
Sins? What happened in this village?
The tavern's door swings open, and YENNEFER OF VENGERBERG enters. She catches Geralt's eye, and he smiles reluctantly.
YENNEFER:
(To Geralt)
It seems we find ourselves in the same place again, Geralt. Hunting monsters, or old habits...

BEGINNING OF ACT TWO
EXT. VILLAGE OUTSKIRTS - NIGHT
Geralt and Yennefer stroll the outskirts, the village now sleeping all around them. Only the wind and the sound of their quiet conversation pierce the silence.
GERALT:
What brings you to this village, Yen?
YENNEFER:
I'm searching for a potent relic. Something that can manipulate time, erase mistakes... or create new ones. It's said to be hidden in these mountains.
GERALT:
You and your magic. Come to think of it, some seem to believe this village is cursed by a vengeful wraith. Could that be related?
YENNEFER:
Maybe, but what past sins have been committed here?
GERALT:
That's what I intend to find out.
A sudden scream pierces the quiet night. Geralt and Yennefer sprint towards the source of the sound.

INT. TAVERN - NIGHT
A dimly lit tavern bustling with various patrons dressed in dirty, worn-down clothing. A thin layer of smoke hangs in the air, and laughter mixed with shouting fills the atmosphere.
GERALT OF RIVIA (early 30s, rugged and notably scarred) sits at the bar, nursing a mug of ale. An attractive BARD (20s, flamboyant attire) nearby is strumming a lute, trying to catch Geralt's attention.
BARD
(casually)
So, Geralt of Rivia, do you have any tales worth sharing tonight?
GERALT
(sipping ale, unimpressed)
I'm here to drink, not talk.
Suddenly, a MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN (peasant garb) bursts into the tavern, clearly distraught.
MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN
(shouting)
Please, someone help! My daughter... a monster has taken her into the woods!
The crowd falls silent, looking away and nursing their drinks. Geralt, however, looks intrigued.
GERALT
(calmly)
What kind of monster?
MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN
(teary-eyed)
I'm not sure—the locals call it the Woodland Widow. It snatches children away in the night, leaving behind only the echo of their cries.
Geralt pauses, deep in thought. The Bard leans in, whispering to Geralt.
BARD
(gleefully)
A thrilling hunt! Imagine the song I could weave from this tale!
Geralt glares at the bard but then turns to the Middle-aged Woman.
GERALT
(serious)
I'll find your daughter, but I'll need information... and coin.
MIDDLE-AGED WOMAN
(nodding vigorously)
I'll tell you everything I know. And you'll have your coin. Please, just save my girl.
EXT. WOODLANDS - NIGHT
Geralt and the Bard follow a trail deeper into the gloomy woods. The Bard is excitedly chattering away, while Geralt remains focused on their tracks.
BARD
(singing)
The Witcher and the bard, they fought the Widow's wraith; with silver blade aloft, they saved the girl so young...
GERALT
(sighs)
Enough with the singing.
BARD
(defensive)
At least allow me to practice. We might as well be prepared for when the inevitable victory comes.
GERALT
(mockingly)
As if being sung about is a victory.
EXT. CLEARING - NIGHT
Geralt and the Bard approach a small clearing, the moon casting eerie shadows across the ground. Shreds of the girl's clothing are strewn about, amidst traces of blood.
GERALT
(low)
This must be where it took her. Stay alert and keep quiet.
BARD
(whispers)
I'll be as silent as a ghost.
GERALT
(rolling his eyes)
Very reassuring.
Suddenly, an otherworldly SCREECH pierces the night, causing the Bard to jump back. Geralt draws his silver sword, eyes locked onto the darkness beyond the clearing.
GERALT
(preparing)
Get ready. Whatever this thing is, it won't go down without a fight.
A ghostly figure materializes, its eerie scream echoing through the forest.

EXT. FOREST ROAD - DAY
Geralt rides Roach slowly along the forest path, a dense fog lingering in the air. His eyes survey the surroundings cautiously, medallion humming on his chest.
GERALT (voiceover)
Something's off. You can sense it too, can't you, old friend?
Roach snorts in response.
CUT TO:
EXT. VILLAGE ENTRANCE - DAY
Geralt and Roach approach a deserted village, its buildings in disrepair. A woman, IVARNA, stands alone in the village square, trembling with fear.
GERALT
You there! What happened here?
IVARNA
Please, Witcher, save our village! It's been cursed by an unknown beast that descends upon us in the shroud of fog and leaves nothing but death in its wake.
GERALT
Is there anything else? What does this creature look like?
IVARNA
No one knows. Those who've seen it perished soon after. The village, once thriving, now crumbles from the curse. We are all that remains.
GERALT
I'll need to investigate further. Take me to the last place this creature was sighted.
CUT TO:
EXT. VILLAGE HOUSE - DAY
Ivarna leads Geralt to an abandoned house, claw marks prevalent on the wooden door. Geralt examines the marks.
GERALT
Claws like razors... and the stench of sulfur. It's a demon of some sort.
INT. ABANDONED HOUSE - DAY
They enter, the remains of the previous occupants strewn about. The Witcher begins his investigation. He uncovers a hastily written note.
GERALT (reading note)
"The azure jewel will grant your wildest dreams. But beware, he who seeks it will pay the ultimate price..."
Ivarna gasps.
IVARNA
The Azure Enigma! That's a tale from our village's past. An ancient artefact cursed by evil spirits. I didn't think it was real.
Geralt's eyes narrow, his expression determined.
GERALT
It's real, and it's responsible for the creature that besieges your village. I'll break this curse, but I need to find this Azure Enigma and the one who unleashed it.

INT. WOODS - NIGHT
A dense fog fills the air as GERALT OF RIVIA, a Witcher, rides his horse, ROACH, through the ominous woods.
GERALT: (grumbles) I'm getting too old for this.
Suddenly, they hear a distressed scream in the distance. Geralt dismounts Roach and walks cautiously towards the sound.
EXT. VILLAGE - NIGHT
Geralt arrives to a small, frightened village. He notices a BODY on the ground with strange wounds, and the locals huddled around it.
GERALT: What happened here?
VILLAGER #1: A monster! It killed him in plain sight!
VILLAGER #2: We didn't stand a chance against it!
GERALT: (examining the body) This isn't the work of any monster I've ever seen. It's...different.
EXT. TAVERN - NIGHT
Geralt enters the dimly lit tavern with his research. He spots YENNEFER, a mesmerizing sorceress, at the bar.
GERALT: Yen.
YENNEFER: (smirking) Geralt. What brings you here?
GERALT: I'm on a contract. Strange creature, kills without warning. Have you heard anything?
YENNEFER: Hmm. Nothing, but my sources did mention a shadowy organization that might be involved.
GERALT: (sighs) Great. Another secret society.
As they discuss, the door to the tavern bursts open, revealing CIRI, a young princess with exceptional abilities.
CIRI: (breathing heavily) Geralt, Yennefer, you need to come with me. There's something you need to see!
Geralt and Yennefer exchange worried glances, then follow Ciri without question.
EXT. ABANDONED BUILDING - NIGHT
Ciri leads them to an abandoned building, its decaying walls and faintly glowing runes hinting at its dark past.
GERALT: What's this place? It reeks of magic.
CIRI: Not just any magic. Forbidden magic. Darker than anything I've ever seen.
They approach the entrance, Yennefer inspects the runes on the walls.
YENNEFER: She's right. This place... it's ancient, and its power is far beyond anything a monster would use.
Geralt cautiously opens the door, revealing a dark corridor.
GERALT: Stay close. If we're dealing with dark magic, there's no telling what could happen.
The three of them make their way through the corridor until they find themselves in a large room, lit only by a circle of candles. In the center, they see a BLOODY RITUAL, the source of the lethal creature.
CIRI: (whispers) Look. The Shadow's Bite. The forbidden spell. Someone's been researching and
summoning deadly creatures.
YENNEFER: This isn't good. We need to find whoever is doing this and stop them.
Unbeknownst to them, a FIGURE watches them from the shadows.

The Witcher: Heart of Darkness
EXT. ABANDONED VILLAGE - NIGHT
A creepy, small, abandoned village nestled deep in the woods. The full moon casts long shadows on the ground, adding to the eerie atmosphere.
GERALT OF RIVIA, our witcher and main protagonist, sits by a small campfire, studying a map. JASKIER, a bard and Geralt's travel companion, warms his hands by the fire, humming a not-so-cheerful tune.
JASKIER
Another desolate village, Geralt? Your choice of vacation spots leaves a lot to be desired.
GERALT
We're not here on vacation, Jaskier. There's a contract on a beast that's been terrorizing the area.
JASKIER
And what beast might that be, oh fearless witcher?
GERALT
(sighs)
A wyvern, it seems.
JASKIER
A wyvern? By Melitele, you really do live for danger, don't you?
As they talk, the bushes rustle, and CIRI, a princess and Geralt's responsibility, emerges. She looks frightened and on edge.
CIRI
Geralt, something doesn't feel right. Like there's darkness here that's... different.
GERALT
(concerned)
Stay close, Ciri. There might be more than one creature lurking in these woods.
EXT. ABANDONED VILLAGE - LATER
Geralt, Ciri, and Jaskier cautiously walk through the abandoned village, searching for clues about the wyvern.
CIRI
(suddenly stops)
Geralt, do you feel that? Like there's something... heavy, pressing down on us.
Geralt’s medallion begins to vibrate, indicating magical presence.
GERALT
We need to be cautious.
Suddenly, a MYSTERIOUS WOMAN clad in dark robes appears in front of them.
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
You shouldn't be here, witcher. The shadows of these lands are darker than you could ever imagine.
GERALT
And you are?
MYSTERIOUS WOMAN
(smiling)
An old soul. And you, witcher, have trespassed into our domain. Leave, and never return.
The mysterious woman disappears as quickly as she came.
JASKIER
Now that was cryptic. Should we heed her warning?
GERALT
(serious)
Something about her seems familiar.
CIRI
Should we leave, Geralt? She sounded serious.
GERALT
I will investigate further. Stay here, both of you.
Geralt moves on leaving Ciri and Jaskier behind, who exchange a worried glance.
EXT. ABANDONED VILLAGE - NIGHT
Geralt comes across a HIDEOUS CREATURE, with scales, long claws, and sharp teeth.
GERALT
Not a wyvern. But close enough.
The creature ROARS and charges Geralt, who barely manages to deflect its attack with his silver sword.
