Star Trek: Voyager - Reflections

            EXT. SPACE - VOYAGER

Voyager floats through the blackness of space, passing by a beautiful, swirling nebula.

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL

Crew members are eating and chatting. Neelix, the ship's chef, is serving up some dish not entirely recognizable as food from behind the counter.

NEELIX: Come on, Tuvok. You must enjoy something beyond the Vulcan nutritional supplement.

TUVOK: Neelix, while I understand the basics of individual taste preferences, I'm quite satisfied with the supplement.

NEELIX: (cheerful) Suit yourself.

Tom Paris watches from his table with a grin, then looks expectantly as Harry Kim approaches the counter.

TOM PARIS: What's it gonna be today, Harry? The mystery meat or the rubbery vegetables?

HARRY KIM: I think I'll take my chances with the vegetables.

Neelix serves up Harry's plate, and Harry joins Tom at the table.

INT. VOYAGER - SICKBAY

The EMH doctor is working on his latest hobby - painting. He looks quite focused as he dabs broad strokes onto the canvas. Kes enters.

EMH: (without looking up) Take a seat, Kes. I'll be with you momentarily.

KES: Actually, I'm not here for medical assistance. I thought I'd come visit and see how your painting is coming along.

EMH: (looking up, pleased) Ah, well, it's a work in progress. Painting is an acquired skill, but I'm doing my best to master it.

Kes examines the canvas.

KES: It's beautiful, Doctor. What is it?

EMH: It's my interpretation of Voyager, with my own artistic twist, of course.

KES: It's fascinating. I would love to see how it turns out.

As they chat, the sickbay begins to flicker and lights dim. The entire ship seems to be shuddering.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Captain Janeway, Commander Chakotay, Tuvok, B'Elanna Torres, Tom Paris, and Harry Kim are all at their stations. Voyager is rocked by a mysterious force, and the crew struggle to maintain control.

JANEWAY: Report!

TUVOK: Unknown spatial anomaly directly ahead. It appears to be fluctuating in both size and intensity without any clear pattern.

B'ELANNA: The warp core is destabilizing, Captain. I need to bring us down to impulse.

JANEWAY: Do it. Tom, get us clear of that anomaly.

PARIS: Aye, Captain.

Voyager moves away from the anomaly but appears to be having difficulty.

HARRY KIM: Some kind of gravity well is dragging us towards the anomaly, Captain. We're fighting it, but it's extremely powerful.

CHAKOTAY: What are our options, Captain?

JANEWAY: (thinking) For now, we maintain our distance and get the warp core back online. We'll study this anomaly and assess the situation.

The bridge crew work furiously as the camera pans away from the bridge and up, revealing the blackness of space.

Star Trek: Voyager - Echoes of Time

            INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Captain Janeway, Commander Chakotay, Lieutenant Tuvok, and Ensign Kim are at their respective stations.

JANEWAY: Report.

TUVOK: We have encountered a phenomenon that appears to be some sort of temporal rift. It is emitting powerful energy waves. We are holding our position, but our systems are being affected.

CHAKOTAY: I've never seen anything like it, Captain.

KIM: And it's getting stronger, almost as if it's pulling us in.

JANEWAY: Can we reverse course?

TUVOK: Attempting to do so would likely cause further damage to the ship. The rift is causing a variance in the fabric of space-time.

JANEWAY: Let's not take any chances. Full stop, and stand by all power systems.

CHAKOTAY: Aye, Captain.

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL

Neelix is serving food to the crew. Paris, Torres, and Kes are having a conversation.

PARIS: So, what do you think this thing is, anyway?

TORRES: My guess is it's some kind of temporal anomaly. Our scans can't penetrate it, so it's hard to say for sure.

KES: What if it's a gateway into another dimension?

TORRES: It's possible.

Neelix approaches the table.

NEELIX: Knowing the Delta Quadrant, anything is possible. But let's not get too carried away, shall we?

As they continue to chat, the ship begins to shake violently.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

JANEWAY: What's happening?!

TUVOK: The rift has begun to emit an even more powerful energy wave. Shields are at 20% and failing.

CHAKOTAY: We're being pulled in!

JANEWAY: Evasive maneuvers, maximum warp! Try to break free from its hold!

Despite their efforts, the ship is pulled towards the rift.

INT. VOYAGER - SICKBAY

The Doctor, Voyager's holographic Chief Medical Officer, is attending to injured crew members.

DOCTOR: You have a minor concussion. Try to get some rest and report to me for a follow-up in 48 hours.

As the crew member leaves, Kes enters.

KES: Doctor, I've come to offer any assistance I can.

DOCTOR: Thank you, Kes. Given the present situation, I may require your help.

EXT. SPACE - VOYAGER

The ship is pulled deeper into the temporal rift, and the screen fills with the bright, swirling energies.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

JANEWAY: We can't hold on much longer! Any ideas?

TUVOK: We may be able to use a modulated graviton beam to disrupt the rift, temporarily creating a stable 'bubble' to allow for our escape. But it may also trigger a catastrophic event.

JANEWAY: We don't have much choice. Prepare the graviton beam!

As the bridge trembles, the crew works frantically to implement Tuvok's plan.

VOYAGER is momentarily engulfed in the light of the rift, and for a brief moment, all is silent.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

The chaos has ceased, but the crew members seem visibly different – as if they have aged several years.

JANEWAY: Are we...?

KIM: Captain, we're out of the rift. But... our systems are reporting that we've aged almost ten years... in just a few minutes!

CHAKOTAY: How is that possible?

TUVOK: Apparently, the rift has accelerated our passage through time.

The crew stares at each other in disbelief.

JANEWAY: We need to find a way back to our own time. Or else, we may be lost to the echoes of time... forever.

Star Trek: Voyager - Shadows of the Past

            INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Captain JANEWAY is sitting in her chair, focusing on the view screen, which displays a strange spatial anomaly. Commander CHAKOTAY, Lieutenant TOM PARIS, and Lieutenant B'ELANNA TORRES are all at their stations, monitoring their instruments.

JANEWAY
Any thoughts on what we're looking at?

CHAKOTAY
An unknown type of spatial anomaly, Captain. We've never seen anything like it before.

B'ELANNA
Whatever it is, it's definitely affecting the ship's power systems.

JANEWAY
Keep a close eye on it, B'Elanna. Let's not raise the alarm just yet.

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL

Neelix is serving food to CREW MEMBERS when Ensign HARRY KIM and Seven of Nine enter the mess hall.

NEELIX
Ah, Ensign Kim and Seven of Nine! How may I assist you today?

HARRY
We're just here for a quick meal, Neelix.

SEVEN OF NINE
Thank you, Mr. Neelix.

INT. VOYAGER - SICKBAY

The Doctor is scanning Crewman GERRON, a young Bajoran, with a medical tricorder.

DOCTOR
It's just a minor sprain, Crewman. You should be back on your feet in no time. I'll just put a regenerator on it.

GERRON
Thank you, Doctor.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

The spatial anomaly shown on the view screen is getting larger and more intense. There is an uneasy atmosphere on the Bridge.

JANEWAY
Chakotay, any updates from long-range sensors?

CHAKOTAY
It appears to be emitting an energy signature similar to a subspace rupture, but it's still unlike anything we've encountered.

TOM
Captain, the anomaly is causing interference with our navigational systems. We're unable to plot a course around it.

JANEWAY
Tuvok, go to yellow alert. B'Elanna, I want an analysis of that energy signature.

B'ELANNA
Aye, Captain.

The lights on Voyager shift to YELLOW ALERT. Crew members start to react with rumbles of concern.

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL

As the lights go to yellow alert, everyone in the mess hall stops eating and looks around.

NEELIX
What's going on? Yellow alert?

HARRY
I'm not sure. I should get back to the bridge.

HARRY Kim and SEVEN OF NINE quickly leave the mess hall.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

HARRY KIM and SEVEN OF NINE enter the bridge. JANEWAY is standing up, looking at the view screen.

JANEWAY
Harry, Seven, any theories on what we're dealing with?

HARRY
It seems to be some kind of subspace distortion, Captain. It's affecting all our systems.

SEVEN OF NINE
I concur. The energy signature seems to be fluctuating rapidly, as if it's trying to break through.

JANEWAY
Break through? From where?

SEVEN OF NINE
Unknown, Captain. More data is required.

As JANEWAY ponders the situation, a bright light suddenly emerges from the anomaly. It races towards Voyager, penetrating its shields.

JANEWAY
Evasive maneuvers!

TOM
It's too fast, Captain!

The light envelopes Voyager. The crew braces for impact as the ship shakes violently.

Star Trek: Voyager - Echoes of the Past

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL - DAY

Captain Janeway and the senior staff gather around a table, engaged in a conversation.

JANEWAY: I must say, Neelix, that last batch of Delta Quadrant coffee beans was remarkable.

NEELIX: Well, Captain, you can thank the Tormathi traders for that. They said it's the best in the sector.

TORRES: I just hope we have enough for the rest of our journey.

CHAKOTAY: Speaking of our journey, we're approaching an unexplored region of space. We might find more resources or even some new allies.

TUVOK: According to our scans, it is mostly uncharted territory. Caution is advised.

PARIS: You know what they say - fortune favors the bold!

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE - DAY

Captain Janeway and the crew are at their stations. Harry picks up a signal on his console.

KIM: Captain, I'm picking up an unusual energy signature. It's unlike anything we've encountered before.

JANEWAY: Let's see if we can learn more about it. Yellow alert. Mr. Paris, set a course.

PARIS: Aye, Captain. Three-quarter impulse.

INT. VOYAGER - ASTROMETRICS LAB - DAY

Seven of Nine and Harry are analyzing the energy signature.

SEVEN: This signature appears to be a form of subspace communication, but it's on a frequency we have not yet encountered.

KIM: Can we establish contact?

SEVEN: I will attempt to modify our communication system to match the frequency.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE - DAY

Captain Janeway and the crew are trying to make contact with the signal's origin.

JANEWAY: Any luck, Seven?

SEVEN (over communicator): I have established a connection.

JANEWAY: Open a channel. This is Captain Kathryn Janeway of the starship Voyager. We are on a mission of exploration and mean no harm. We have detected your signal and wish to establish peaceful contact.

VOICE (over communicator): Greetings, Captain Janeway. I am Commander Tariel of the Narathi Confederacy. It has been many years since we encountered travelers from the Alpha Quadrant.

JANEWAY: Commander Tariel, we are pleased to make your acquaintance. We hope to learn more about your people and perhaps establish a mutual exchange of knowledge and resources.

TARIEL (over communicator): Our history speaks of a time when our people encountered a great explorer from the Alpha Quadrant, who taught us valuable lessons and left us with a beacon to guide us. We welcome you and your crew.

JANEWAY: The beacon? What was the name of this explorer?

TARIEL (over communicator): We know him as Zefram Cochrane.

The crew reacts with astonishment as they ponder the implications of this revelation.

There is silence. Then a voice responds over the comm.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE
Captain Janeway... We've been expecting you.

C.J. KARE-WAYNE
Who are you, and what do you want?

MYSTERIOUS VOICE
Let's just say... We're friends from the future, and we share a common goal.

C.J. KARE-WAYNE
Which is?

MYSTERIOUS VOICE
Preventing the temporal chaos that is unfolding.

CAPTAIN JANET T. KATHRYN (C.J.) KARE-WAYNE

You'll have to convince me that you can be trusted first. Lower your cloaking device and prepare for a meeting.

MYSTERIOUS VOICE
Very well, Captain. We'll meet you in your conference room in exactly one hour.

C.J. KARE-WAYNE
I'll be expecting you.

            INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Captain Janeway sits in her captain's chair, with Chakotay standing beside her. Tuvok oversees the operations at tactical while Tom Paris pilots the ship. Harry Kim is at the Ops station while B'Elanna Torres has joined them on the bridge.

Captain Janeway: (looking at PADD) Chakotay, let's make sure we have all our resources aligned for our next encounter with the Borg.

Chakotay: Agreed, Captain. In the meantime, the crew has prepared a new alternative energy source we'd like you to see. It may increase Voyager's warp speed capability.

B'Elanna Torres: We're calling it Project Arclight, Captain.

Captain Janeway: Show me.

INT. ENGINEERING - DAY

Chakotay, Janeway, and Torres stand in front of a GLOWING DEVICE that's integrated into Voyager's systems.

B'Elanna Torres: We've been working on this since our last encounter with the Borg. We discovered some residual energy fluctuations from one of their weapons.

Captain Janeway: What's the energy output?

Chakotay: An estimated 30% increase to our current top speed.

Captain Janeway: Impressive. Are there any risks?

B'Elanna Torres: There's always some risk, Captain. But so far, our testing has been successful.

Captain Janeway: We need every advantage we can get. Do it.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE - LATER

Janeway returns to the Bridge as Project Arclight is put into action. The crew braces for a potential warp speed jump.

Tuvok: Warp field is stable, Captain.

Captain Janeway: Increase to warp 8. Let's see what this can do.

Tom Paris: Aye, Captain. Increasing to warp 8.

Voyager JUMPS to a higher warp speed, faster than ever before. The crew exchanges excited and relieved glances.

Harry Kim: Captain, I'm detecting a temporal distortion approaching aft at an alarming rate.

Captain Janeway: (frowning) On screen.

The viewscreen displays the anomaly rapidly approaching Voyager.

Tuvok: It appears that the distortion is a result of our increased warp speed.

Captain Janeway: Disengage Project Arclight.

Chakotay: It'll take a moment to revert to our normal warp drive.

The anomaly catches up with Voyager, creating a LARGE TEMPORAL WAVE. The wave impacts the ship, causing a violent shift. The crew struggles to maintain their positions.

INT. VOYAGER - VARIOUS LOCATIONS

CUTS to various crewmembers reacting to the TEMPORAL WAVE hitting the ship.

INT. BRIDGE - CONTINUOUS

Captain Janeway, Chakotay, and the bridge crew fight to stabilize the ship.

Chakotay: We're back at normal warp speed, Captain.

Captain Janeway: Report.

Harry Kim: The temporal anomaly is gone, but it looks like there's some residual chroniton radiation.

Captain Janeway: Any damage to the ship or crew?

Tuvok: No damage or injury reported, Captain.

Captain Janeway: That was a close call.

Chakotay: What about Project Arclight?

Captain Janeway: It's too dangerous. We can't risk another temporal anomaly. We'll have to find another way to deal with the Borg.

Suddenly, an alert KLAXON sounds.

Harry Kim: Captain, we're receiving a distress signal from an unknown alien vessel. They claim to be from the...future?

The crew exchanges looks of disbelief and concern.

Star Trek: Voyager - The Temporal Shift

            EXT. SPACE - VOYAGER

The camera slowly zooms into the USS Voyager as it soars through space before transitioning inside the ship.

INT. VOYAGER - MESS HALL

NEELIX, the Talaxian cook and morale officer, is serving food to the crew members. CAPTAIN JANET KATHRYNWAY and COMMANDER CHAKOTAY enter the mess hall, engaged in conversation.

KATHRYNWAY: I just want to be sure we're prepared for any new challenges.

CHAKOTAY: With our recent encounters, it's wise to stay vigilant.

Neelix approaches the duo, holding a tray with two bowls of his latest culinary creation

NEELIX: Captain, Commander, would you like to try my newest dish? It's called Talaxian Tango. It's from my great-grand-aunt's secret recipe.

KATHRYNWAY: (smiling) I suppose we can't pass up that kind of offer.

Neelix gives them the bowls and they sit down. A sudden flash of light startles the crew. The environment around them begins to wave and twist, and suddenly everything returns to normal.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

The crew is alert, and everyone at their stations. ENSIGN HARRY KIM reports the most recent activity.

KIM: Captain, I'm registering a major power surge in the space-time continuum.

KATHRYNWAY: (urgently) On screen!

The viewscreen displays an anomaly. The crew, unable to shake off the recent experience, stare at the screen.

TUVOK: Sensors indicate it's a temporal anomaly, we must perform scans immediately to understand the effects on the ship.

Kathrynway, with a worried look, gives the order

KATHRYNWAY: Proceed, Tuvok.

INT. VOYAGER - SICKBAY

Emergency lights flash as DOCTOR, the holographic medical officer, finishes tending to an injured crew member. LIEUTENANT B'ELANNA TORRES, the half-human half-Klingon Chief Engineer, enters.

TORRES: Doctor, who was responsible for this surge?

DOCTOR: (annoyed) I am a Doctor, not a detective, Lieutenant. I suggest you consult the bridge for answers.

TORRES: (grimacing) Point taken.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Tuvok continues his scans, and the rest of the bridge crew is tense. The door swishes open as Torres enters and goes directly to Kim and Paris' station.

KATHRYNWAY: (frustrated) Report, Tuvok.

TUVOK: This anomaly appears to have caused a temporal shift in Voyager's timeline.

The crew absorbs the news amidst buzzing consoles.

CHAKOTAY: What kind of shift are we talking about?

TUVOK: Based on my analysis, random segments of time for the crew have been displaced, varying from a few seconds to several years.

KIM: (alarmed) That sounds dangerous, we could end up anywhere in time.

KATHRYNWAY: We need to find a way to reverse this before the entire crew is lost in time.

The beeping of consoles intensifies, indicating an approaching enemy ship. The entire crew is startled, and Kathrynway orders battle stations.

KATHRYNWAY: Shields up, weapons ready. We don't know what kind of threat we're facing this time.

As if on cue, another light flashes, and the crew braces for the possible voyage through time.

CUT TO BLACK.

Star Trek: Voyager – Eons Uncharted

            INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

We open on the USS Voyager in the Delta Quadrant. Captain JANEWAY is in her command chair, reviewing reports. Crew members work at their stations.

JANEWAY: Tuvok, any sign of the temporal anomaly that we detected earlier?

TUVOK: No, Captain. It appears to have disappeared as suddenly as it emerged.

TOM PARIS, at the helm, interrupts with urgency.

PARIS: Captain! I'm picking up a distress call from a nearby planet.

JANEWAY: How nearby?

PARIS: Close enough to alter our current course and arrive within an hour.

JANEWAY: Put it on speakers.

A female voice, clearly anxious yet authoritative, is heard over the speakers.

ALIEN VOICE (V.O.): Mayday, mayday. This is Governor Selris of the Toran IV colony. We need immediate assistance! We are suffering the effects of a powerful unknown force. Our planet is disintegrating around us.

JANEWAY: This is Captain Janeway of the Federation vessel USS Voyager. We are here to help. Can you give us any information on the nature of this force?

SELRIS (V.O.): This force appears to come from the very fabric of space itself. It's as if time is unraveling and taking our world with it.

Janeway exchanges looks with Tuvok and Chakotay.

JANEWAY: Mr. Paris, set a course for Toran IV. Maximum warp.

PARIS: Aye, Captain. Course plotted and locked in. ETA: one hour.

INT. VOYAGER - READY ROOM

Janeway, Tuvok, Chakotay, and Seven of Nine have gathered to discuss the situation.

CHAKOTAY: Are these two incidents related? The temporal anomaly and this unknown force that's destroying the Toran IV colony?

TUVOK: It seems highly probable, Commander.

JANEWAY: Seven, what have you been able to learn about the temporal anomaly?

SEVEN: Very little, Captain. It's an enigma. Whatever it is, it's beyond our current understanding.

JANEWAY: Then we'll have to find a way to make it our business. We've got innocent people in danger, and time is not on our side.

INT. VOYAGER - SICKBAY

DOCTOR, keen to help, begins sifting through data related to the annihilation of the Toran IV colony.

DOCTOR (to himself): Temporal anomalies and unraveling planets... Quite the medical feat, wouldn't you say?

Suddenly, Kes appears by his side, startling him.

KES: I'm sorry, Doctor. I didn't mean to startle you. I felt the temporal disturbance earlier and sensed that my friends would need me.

DOCTOR (nervously): Kes, it's... it's good to see you again. We could certainly use your insight on the matter.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

As Janeway steels herself for the voyage, Chakotay approaches her.

CHAKOTAY: Captain, we'll find a way to save them. I promise.

JANEWAY: I know we will, Commander. We always do. But how many more impossible challenges can we face before Voyager reaches her breaking point?

CHAKOTAY: We've come this far, Captain. I believe we'll find a way, as long as we stand together.

As the ship races toward the mysterious anomaly, Janeway's worry is palpable. But the crew's resolve remains strong.

Star Trek: Voyager - Echoes of the Past

EXT. SPACE - VOYAGER IN ORBIT AROUND A PLANET (CONTINUOUS)

Voyager orbits a lush Class-M planet. A pulsing energy signal emits from the planet's surface.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE (CONTINUOUS)

Captain Janeway, Tuvok, Paris, and Chakotay are at their stations. Kim monitors the energy signal. The crew is on full alert.

JANEWAY:
Any idea what that signal is, Mr. Kim?

KIM:
Not yet, Captain. It's unlike anything we've encountered before.

CHAKOTAY:
Could it be a distress signal, Captain?

JANEWAY:
We can't rule it out. Continue your analysis, Mr. Kim.

TUVOK:
Captain, the planet has a dense atmosphere, rendering it difficult for our sensors to penetrate.

INT. VOYAGER - ENGINEERING (CONTINUOUS)

B'Elanna Torres and Seven of Nine work on a console, studying the unique energy signal.

TORRES:
This is strange. The signal's frequency keeps changing.

SEVEN:
It is likely a complex form of communication, but the computer is having difficulty deciphering it.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE (CONTINUOUS)

KIM:
Captain, I've been able to partially decode the message. It's definitely some kind of distress call, but it's over a century old.

Paris and Tuvok exchange puzzled glances.

JANEWAY:
A century-old distress signal? Mr. Tuvok, any sign of immediate danger?

TUVOK:
Negative, Captain. However, I recommend caution. The signal's creator may no longer be present, leaving unknown threats in its wake.

INT. VOYAGER - READY ROOM (CONTINUOUS)

Janeway, Chakotay, and Tuvok analyze the situation.

JANEWAY:
It's our duty to investigate this distress signal, even if the originators are likely gone.

CHAKOTAY:
Agreed. But the unknowns make it dangerous for an away team.

TUVOK:
I suggest sending a team consisting of myself, Seven, B'Elanna, and Ensign Kim.

JANEWAY:
All right. But keep in constant contact and return to Voyager at the first sign of trouble. Understood?

TUVOK:
Aye, Captain.

Janeway, Chakotay, and Tuvok exit the ready room, returning to the bridge.

JANEWAY:
Mr. Tuvok, you have a green light for the away mission. Proceed with caution.

TUVOK:
Understood, Captain.

As the away team prepares to beam down to the planet's surface, Voyager's crew expresses apprehension and tension. The unknown nature of the energy signal provides a mystery they're compelled to solve.

The away team transports to the planet and begins their investigation.

INT. PLANET SURFACE - DAY

The away team searches the planet's surface, their tricorders humming as they follow the signal's source. During their trek, they discover unrecognizable structures that defy Starfleet's understanding.

TORRES:
These structures... they're like nothing I've ever seen.

SEVEN:
Indeed. Their technology appears both ancient and advanced simultaneously. The creators of the signal remain enigmatic, for now.

KIM:
The signal is getting stronger. We must be close.

As they press on, the away team suddenly experiences a series of disturbing visions. They glimpse individuals who appear alien and yet somehow familiar.

Captain Janeway stands in the middle of the bridge, observing the crew. Tuvok mans the tactical station, while Ensign Kim, Seven of Nine, and Lieutenant Paris perform their respective duties.

KIM
Captain, we have incoming transmissions from an unknown source.

JANEWAY
On screen.

The screen shows static before an image of a middle-aged alien male appears. He is wearing a military uniform and has a stern expression.

ALIEN
I am Commander Rixis of the Talaxian Defense Force. You have entered our territory without permission. State your intentions.

JANEWAY
I'm Captain Kathryn Janeway of the Federation Starship Voyager. Commander Rixis, we mean no harm. We are merely trying to find our way home.

RIXIS
That may be, but we find ourselves in a delicate situation. We are in the midst of a dispute with a neighboring government, the Benarans. Trespassers are not welcome.

JANEWAY
We had no knowledge of your situation, Commander. Please accept our apologies. We will leave your territory immediately.

RIXIS
See that you do. Rixis out.

The screen goes back to the star field. Chakotay approaches Janeway.

CHAKOTAY
I've got a feeling we'll be meeting the Benarans soon enough.

Janeway places her hand on her forehead.

JANEWAY
That's all we need.

The ship suddenly shakes with the impact of light explosions.

PARIS
We're under attack!

JANEWAY
Red alert! Shields up!

INT. VOYAGER - CORRIDOR

B'Elanna Torres races to main Engineering.

TUVOK (V.O.)
All hands to battle stations!

INT. VOYAGER - ENGINEERING

Torres enters and takes her station.

TORRES
We just took a hit to our port nacelle. Re-routing power to compensate.

JANEWAY (V.O.)
Acknowledged.

The ship is hit again, more violent this time.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Janeway grabs the edge of her command chair to steady herself.

PARIS
Three Benaran warships. Weapons at full power.

CHAKOTAY
They think we're allies of the Talaxians.

JANEWAY
Hail them, Chakotay. Let's clear up this misunderstanding before it gets worse.

Chakotay taps his console, then looks up.

CHAKOTAY
No response. They're jamming our communications.

Janeway tightens her grip on the chair, deep in thought.

JANEWAY
Evasive maneuvers, Mr. Paris. We need to find a way to defuse this situation before it's too late.

The USS Voyager races through uncharted space on its continuing journey home to the Alpha Quadrant.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

Captain Kathryn Janeway sits in her chair, flanked by her senior officers. She sips her coffee, lost in thought.

TUVOK: (at tactical) Captain, we've picked up a distress signal from a nearby system. The call seems to be from an unknown species.

JANEWAY: (nods) On screen, Mr. Tuvok.

A shaky visual fills the screen, depicting an alien pleading for help.

ALIEN: Our world is under attack. Our cities are in ruins...we need assistance before it's too late! Please, is anyone out there?

TOM PARIS: (at helm) Whoever they are, they seem desperate.

JANEWAY: Indeed. Mr. Paris, set a course for their location. Maximum warp. Engage.

EXT. SPACE - VOYAGER

The ship leaps to warp, racing toward the unknown world.

INT. VOYAGER - BRIDGE

The officers work, anticipation filling the air.

CHAKOTAY: (to Janeway) Captain, we don't know anything about this species or their attackers.

JANEWAY: I understand, Commander, but we can't ignore a cry for help like that. We'll assess the situation, and if we can assist, we will.

As Voyager arrives at the planet, evidence of destruction becomes clear. The attacks seem to be caused by unknown, massive energy beams.

JANEWAY: Bridge to Engineering. How's our shield strength, Chief?

TORRES: (voiceover) Holding steady for now, Captain, but we don't know what we're up against.

JANEWAY: Keep at it, B'Elanna.

TUVOK: Captain, a vessel is approaching. It appears to be the attacker.

JANEWAY: Red alert. Shields up. Hail them.

Tuvok nods and opens a channel. A gruff-looking alien appears.

GRUFF ALIEN: You have a lot of nerve coming to our system, trespassers. Turn back now, or you'll suffer as these fools have!

JANEWAY: We only came to offer aid after receiving a distress signal from the planet below. Our intentions are peaceful.

GRUFF ALIEN: Your help is not wanted. We have our own reasons for this attack. Leave now or face destruction!

The screen goes blank as the alien ship moves in on an attack run.

JANEWAY: (grim) Evasive maneuvers, Mr. Paris. Mr. Tuvok, stand by for countermeasures. We won't be bullied out of helping those in need.

Tensions rise and music intensifies as Voyager faces off against the attacking ship to protect the defenseless planet below.
