Rebecca (mid-30s, quirky, loves musicals) stands in front of her mirror, prepping for the day.

Every day's a brand new show,
Time to strut and let love grow!
Suddenly, her roommate, Heather (mid-20s, sarcastic), enters the room, interrupting the song.
HEATHER:

Rebecca and Jack (early 30s, charming) walk up to the entrance, laughing and chatting.
REBECCA:
I've never been here. It looks fun!
JACK:

Rebecca and Jack enter the club and see Paula (early 40s, supportive friend) and Darryl (early 50s, quirky) at a table, looking uneasy.
PAULA:
Rebecca, glad you're here! Darryl's been telling dad jokes all night.
DARRYL:
Speaking of dad jokes, why did the tomato turn red?
Paula and Rebecca exchange a glance.

Just as the group starts to mingle, Rebecca's ex-boyfriend, Josh (handsome Filipino guy in his 30s), enters with VALENCIA, his girlfriend.
Rebecca's eyes go wide, but Jack doesn't notice.
JOSH:
Hey guys!
REBECCA (nervously):
Josh… didn't expect to see you here.
An awkward silence fills the air.
REBECCA:
Actually guys, since we're all here... how about a friendly dance competition?

Rebecca sings and dances, obviously trying to impress Jack and make Josh jealous at the same time.
Halfway through, Heather sneaks into the club, having followed Rebecca there. She picks up on the tension.

INT. HOME BASE SPORTS BAR - NIGHT
Josh Chan (early 30s, attractive, earnest) is behind the bar, cleaning glasses. Greg Serrano (early 30s, gruff, sarcastic) enters the bar, returning after his absence from West Covina.
JOSH
Happily(Greg! Nice to see you, man! How was Emory? How does sobriety feel?!
GREG
It's great. Good to be back, though. (Pauses) West Covina missed me!

JOSH
So, what brings you back to our humble city?
GREG
I just got a job at a local community center, managing their recreational programs. One of them happens to include this prom event on Saturday.
JOSH

Rebecca enters the living room to find Paula waiting for her.
Paula: Well, good news for you, Bec. An old flame of yours just moved back into town.
Rebecca (excitedly): Really?! Who is it?
Paula: Ross McDaniel. Remember him from law school?
Rebecca (blushing): Ah, yes... Ross. He was always so dreamy and mysterious.
Paula: Well, apparently he's taken over his family's ice cream shop, and they're holding a 'Welcome Back' party for him tonight!

Meanwhile, Nathaniel and JR are discussing the company's latest case.
Nathaniel: Alright JR, what's the update on the Goldsmith case?
JR: Still waiting on their response to the counter-proposal, Nathaniel. We should hear back today.
Nathaniel (noticing Rebecca's excitement): What's got Bunch all fired up?
JR: Oh, she's heading to some ice cream shop party tonight. She says an old flame from law school is back in town.
Nathaniel (slightly jealous): An old flame, huh?
INT. WHITEFEATHER & ASSOCIATES - RECEPTION AREA - DAY
Rebecca, Paula, and JR are all near the reception area.
Rebecca (overly excited): I can't wait to see Ross tonight! Thanks for coming with me, guys.
Paula: Of course, Bec. We wouldn't miss it.
JR: And who doesn't love ice cream?
Nathaniel enters the scene.
Nathaniel: If you don't mind, I'll tag along. I do enjoy a good scoop of rocky road from time to time.
Rebecca (suspicious): Okay... but don't ruin my chances with Ross!
Nathaniel (defensive): I just want ice cream... and to see what kind of disaster you create out of this situation.

Rows of colorful and delicious ice cream flavors line the walls, while friends and family of Ross mingle with each other. Rebecca, Paula, Nathaniel, and JR arrive.
Ross (smiling): Rebecca? Is that you? Rebecca Bunch?
Rebecca hugs Ross overenthusiastically.
Rebecca (singing in her head): Ross is back! What do I say? I need the perfect ice cream to turn this night my way...

(clearly from far away, faint) Rebecca! Where did you go?

Rebecca tries to get her bearings, realizing she's somehow traveled back to the past.
REBECCA
(mutters to herself) Can this day get any weirder?
A YOUNG DARRYL (Pete Gardner), in his 20s, walks up to Rebecca, looking confused.
YOUNG DARRYL
Who are you?
REBECCA
(stuttering) I'm... from the future.
Rebecca quickly launches into a MUSICAL NUMBER about trying to be helpful but causing chaos.

Present-day Paula, Josh (Vincent Rodriguez III), and Nathaniel (Scott Michael Foster) are huddled around Rebecca's desk, trying to figure out what happened to her.

Rebecca, still stuck in the past, tries to recreate the coffee incident, hoping it might take her back to the present. Suddenly, she bumps into a YOUNG JOSH (22), spilling her “magic” coffee all over him.

(realizing) Oh, I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to...

When you're eating eggs each day, you've got to change the way, oh love and cookery mix in ways you never can describe!
She flips the omelette gracefully as her roommate, Heather, enters the kitchen, displaying her usual deadpan expression.
HEATHER:
Rebecca, you know there's still a restraining order against you, right?
Rebecca's singing comes to an abrupt halt, and she leans against the counter, trying to appear casual.
REBECCA:
What? Oh, I didn't realize that was still in effect. Whoops!
Heather rolls her eyes and starts making cereal as Rebecca's ex-boyfriend, Josh, enters the apartment. He's clearly uncomfortable.
JOSH:
Hey, ladies. What's cooking, good-looking?
Rebecca cracks a nervous smile.
REBECCA:
Oh, just an omelette, Josh. For old time's sake? Care to join me?
Heather raises an eyebrow.

You're cooking with ingredients that practically beg for a new restraining order.
Josh holds up his hands defensively.

Rebecca, not looking up from her cooking, responds frantically.

Not now, Paula! I'm in the fight of my life to win over Josh - with culinary skills.
Paula sighs and takes a seat next to Josh.
PAULA:
Fine, but we need to talk later. It's juicy.
Josh gives Paula a concerned look but stays quiet.

REBECCA: (excited) Can you believe it, Paula? I'm finally going on a road trip with Nathaniel! Just like we planned before things got... messy.
PAULA: (skeptical) Uh, Rebecca? You do know you guys are just going to a business conference, right? It's not exactly the open road, wind-in-your-hair situation you were dreaming of.
REBECCA: (ignoring Paula) We'll drive through the night, snack on off-ramp fast food, and bond over our shared love of murder podcasts! It's going to be amazing!

Rebecca reads a text message from Nathaniel, informing her that he's downstairs waiting for her.

Nathaniel (on the phone): Hey, Rebecca, I heard Valencia's in the office. Are we really representing her?
Rebecca: Yes, she needs our help!
Nathaniel: Alright, as long as she pays her fees. Good luck with that.

Rebecca, Valencia, and Darryl are discussing the case.
Rebecca: Okay, so you're being sued for allegedly using a competitor's patented yoga poses?
Valencia: That's what they say. But I came up with those poses all on my own!
Rebecca: Don't worry, we'll get to the bottom of this.
Darryl: Yeah, we'll have you back in child's pose in no time! (laughs nervously)

Everyone, I'd like you to meet my nephew, Gregor. He's a computer science major and he's going to be helping us out with some computer stuff.

Hi, Gregor, I'm Rebecca. Nice to meet you.
GREGOR
(nervous, stammering)

After a few awkward seconds, Rebecca's phone buzzes again.
REBECCA
Oh, I'm sorry. It's just Greg again. I need to respond.
Rebecca focuses back on her screen, leaving Gregor feeling awkward.

Rebecca and Paula are sitting outside the bakery. Rebecca is obsessing over her phone, waiting for Greg's next message.

(frustrated)
Rebecca, this is what I'm talking about. Your obsession is getting out of hand.

(eyes on her phone)
He just makes me so happy, Paula! And maybe there's something special about Gregor, too.
PAULA
(sighing, coming up with an idea)

(perking up)
Really? You'll help me?
PAULA
Yes. Operation: Boyfriend Makeover. But you have to promise to stop obsessing about Greg, at least for a little while.

Thank you, Rebecca. Paula, thank you both. I feel so different. I don't know how I could ever repay you.
Just as the moment starts getting emotional, Rebecca's phone buzzes again. It's Greg, asking if she's free to meet right now. She looks at the phone then at Gregor and Paula.
REBECCA
(tearing up)
Thank you, Paula. I promise I won't let you down.
Rebecca dashes off to find Greg while Paula smiles, then turns her attention to Gregor.
PAULA
(smiling)
You still have work to do, champ. Don't think you're off the hook yet!

Paula bursts into the office, carrying a huge stack of documents.

(excited)
Rebecca, I tracked down some of his old girlfriends. I think I found something!

Rebecca is sitting on the couch, flipping through her high school yearbook. She spots a photo of herself with a former boyfriend from high school, NATE.

Rebecca walks into the office, still daydreaming about Nate.
PAULA:
Rebecca! Did you sign up for the annual high school alumni party?
REBECCA:
Alumni party? Oh, that's why I was daydreaming about Nate, the first guy I ever loved.
PAULA:
(whispers) The universe is telling you something. You must find out what happened to him and see if he is still the one.

DARRYL:
(frustrated) How did I not know about this alumni party? I swear, they don't even check who they leave off the invite list.
INT. REBECCA'S APARTMENT - NIGHT
Rebecca and Paula are searching for Nate on the internet.
REBECCA:
We have to find this guy. I mean, the universe can't just bring up someone who meant so much to me in my past like that.
PAULA:
Absolutely. We'll find him and you can see if there's still a spark.

Heather, Valencia, and Nathaniel are sitting in a booth when Rebecca and Paula burst in.
REBECCA:
Guys, we need your help. The high school alumni party is in a week and I need to find Nate!
VALENCIA:
I'm in. It's time for some romantic recon.
HEATHER:
Fine, but only if I get to wear a disguise.
NATHANIEL:
I don't know, Rebecca. What if Nate isn't who you remember?
REBECCA:
Don't worry, Nathaniel. This won't affect what we have right now. But if the universe is sending me signs, I can't ignore them.

Realizing that Nate is not at the alumni party, a disappointed Rebecca stands alone while others dance around her. Paula, meanwhile, hands a folded note to Rebecca.

Rebecca, someone gave this to me as I entered the party. It has your name on it.
REBECCA:
(opens note) It's an address, and it's signed 'N'.
