Baywatch - A New Wave
INT. MALIBU BEACH LIFEGUARD HEADQUARTERS - DAY
The sun is shining through the windows as MITCH BUCHANNON, late 30s, muscular, and tanned, sits by the reception reading paperwork. CJ PARKER, an attractive blonde woman in her 20s, walks up to Mitch.
CJ
Morning, Mitch! What's on today's agenda?
MITCH
(smiling)
Morning, CJ. We've got a newbie coming in for lifeguard training. Plus, there's a surf competition taking place this afternoon. We need to make sure everything's under control.
CJ
Sounds like a busy day!
MITCH
You know it. Now, let's get out there and make sure everyone's safe.
EXT. MALIBU BEACH - DAY
The sun is shining, people are sunbathing and children are playing in the water. Lifeguards SHAUNIE and EDDIE, both toned and fit, prepare the lifeguard tower for the day.
SHAUNIE
(excited)
I'm looking forward to the surf competition. It's always amazing to watch people master the waves.
EDDIE
Totally, but we can't forget our primary responsibility is to keep everyone safe.
SHAUNIE
Absolutely!
The newcomer, RACHEL, 20s, athletic, and eager, approaches Mitch and CJ.
RACHEL
Hi, I'm Rachel, the new trainee. Super excited to be working with you all!
MITCH
Welcome, Rachel. We're glad to have you here. I'm Mitch, and this is CJ.
CJ
Hey Rachel, happy to have you on board!
SHAUNIE, noticing Rachel from the tower, waves and calls out to her.
SHAUNIE
Hey there, newbie! Welcome to the Bay!
RACHEL
Thanks, guys! I can't wait to get started.
The team begins assessing the beach and planning their duties for the day.
LATER
The surf competition begins. The crowd is larger than expected, lifeguards are on full alert.
EDDIE
(noticing a distressed swimmer)
Mitch, looks like we have a swimmer in trouble near the surf competition.
MITCH
(springing into action)
I see them. I'll handle this. CJ, keep an eye on the beach for any other emergencies.
CJ
Got it.
Mitch swims out to the struggling swimmer, while the surf competition continues. Rachel, meanwhile, keeps an eye on the shoreline to make sure none of the spectators wander too close to the water.
CJ
(yelling to Rachel)
Great job, Rachel! Stay focused!
RACHEL
(nods)
Got it, CJ!
Moments later, Mitch is near the swimmer, whose name is TOMMY. The distressed youth is struggling to stay above the waves.
MITCH
(pulling a rescue can out)
Tommy, I'm here to help. Grab the rescue can, and don't fight the current.
TOMMY
(panicked)
I-I can't swim!
MITCH
I've got you. Just relax and stay close to me.
Back on the beach, the lifeguards spot another potential problem. A YOUNG CHILD starts wandering too close to the surf competition area.
CJ
Rachel! Grab that kid before he gets too close!
Rachel sprints toward the child, wrapping an arm around him just as he heads into the water's path, narrowly avoiding a surfer.
TOMMY
(frightened)
I-I can't swim!
MITCH
I'm here to help. Grab the rescue can, and don't fight the current.
Back on the beach, the lifeguards spot another potential problem. A YOUNG CHILD starts wandering too close to the surf competition area.
CJ
Kid in the danger zone! Rachel, grab him!

C.J. PARKER: So, it's like any other day, just with a lot more horsepower.
MITCH: Exactly, C.J. I want everyone on their toes. Hobie, you'll handle the East side of the tower. Cody, you'll be handling the race cove. C.J., you'll stay with us in the tower. Newmie, you've got the sea-doo if things go south.
NEWMIE: Got it, boss. On it.
MITCH: Any questions?
The team members exchange looks and nod 'no'.

Excitement builds as speedboats and their crews prepare for the legendary Riptide Racers.

A crowded beach is buzzing with anticipation. The team stays focused.
EXT. RACE COURSE - DAY
The race begins with several speeding boats leaving huge waves in their wake. Spectators watch closely.
Cody checks up on LIV as they pass by her boat.
CODY: Liv, everything good?
LIV: Yeah! Just trying to get ahead. Can't keep up with these guys!
CODY: Just be careful. These are choppy waters. Remember, safety first.
Liv nods and speeds ahead, joining the race.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
A swimmer gets overwhelmed by a larger-than-normal wave and panics. Mitch spots them and signals Hobie.
MITCH: Hobie, swimmer in trouble! Near the buoy!
HOBIE: I see them, Dad, I'm on it!
Hobie swims out, reaches the swimmer, and brings them to shore safely. The team cheers.
CODY: Good job, Hobie!
EXT. RACE COURSE - LATER
The boats are nearing the finish line. Liv is falling behind, pushing her boat to its limits.
Suddenly, her boat flips over from its high speed, and Liv finds herself beneath it, trapped.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
Cody spots the accident in the distance.
CODY: Liv's in trouble! I'm going in!
Panicked, Cody dives into the water, swimming fearlessly towards Liv's capsized boat.
Mitch signals Newmie to get ready with the sea-doo.
MITCH: Newmie, be ready - this could get messy!
NEWMIE: Copy that.
Cody reaches Liv, trying desperately to free her from the wreckage.
CODY: Liv, are you okay? We have to get you out of there!
LIV: I...I can't move...
Cody struggles to move debris, fear mounting in his eyes.

The sun shines brightly overhead, casting a golden gleam on the sand and waves. Lifeguards are dotted along the coastline, watching over sunbathers, surfers, and swimmers.
CLOSE UP on lifeguard MITCH BUCHANNON as he surveys the beach through binoculars.
MITCH
(intercom)
All clear here. Keep up the good work, team.
MITCH catches sight of two children excitedly rushing towards the water. He smiles.
MITCH
(softly to himself)
Summer never ends, huh?
Suddenly, Mitch's attention is caught by a woman in a red bathing suit laying out a beach towel near one of the lifeguard towers. She glances over and gives Mitch a friendly wink.
INT. BAYWATCH HEADQUARTERS - DAY
Mitch enters the headquarters. He greets C.J. PARKER, who is prepping rescue equipment.
MITCH
You should see the beach today, C.J. It's like a scene from a postcard.
C.J.
I won't be surprised. It's LA, Mitch. It's always warm and sunny.
MITCH
(smiling)
True. Hey, who's that new lifeguard?
C.J.
Oh, that's GABRIELLA REYES. She's a transfer from San Diego. I've heard good things about her.
Mitch nods, excited about meeting the new member of his team.
EXT. MALIBU BEACH - DAY
Lifeguard GABRIELLA REYES approaches MITCH as he adjusts his lifeguard gear.
GABRIELLA
(smiling)
Hey! You must be Mitch Buchannon.
MITCH
That's me. You must be Gabriella Reyes, our new recruit.
GABRIELLA
Yep. I am excited to join the Baywatch crew.
MITCH
Welcome to the family. How was your first day?
GABRIELLA
Great, so far. Hey, any advice for a newbie at this beach?
MITCH
Just stay on top of your game, trust your instincts, and have fun. Baywatch is about more than just watching the bay. We're a team – a family. We look out for each other.
GABRIELLA
Thanks, Mitch. I'll keep that in mind.
They exchange smiles before Gabriella heads back to her post.
EXT. MALIBU BEACH - A LITTLE LATER
A GROUP OF FRIENDS are setting up a table with a large birthday cake near the water. They're rowdy, laughing and joking as they prepare for a surprise birthday celebration.
MITCH, now on patrol, notices the group and can't help but smile at their enthusiasm. But his smile fades as he turns his gaze towards the water and spots a YOUNG GIRL struggling against the waves.
MITCH
(alarm)
C.J., we've got a swimmer in trouble near Tower 4!
C.J.
(into her walkie-talkie)
I'm on it, Mitch!
C.J. and GABRIELLA rush towards the struggling girl in the ocean, while Mitch contacts the other lifeguards for backup.

MITCH
(over intercom)
Summer, Brody, we need you at Tower 4. There's a girl in trouble!
EXT. MALIBU BEACH - CONTINUOUS
C.J. and GABRIELLA reach the struggling girl in time, but the waves are becoming stronger. Two more lifeguards from nearby towers arrive, including Summer and Brody.
MITCH watches as the teamwork of the Baywatch lifeguards pays off, and they safely bring the girl back to shore.
YOUNG GIRL
(still shaken)
Thank you, thank you so much!
C.J.
You're safe now. Just remember, the ocean can be unpredictable. Always be alert.
As the girl walks back to her family, Mitch looks out over the ocean, a sense of foreboding washing over him.

C.J.

What’s with that yacht? It’s really close to the shore.
MITCH
I agree. I’ll call for someone to check it out.
CODY
I’ve got a feeling something bad might happen.
MITCH
We’ll be ready if it does.
C.J., CODY, and MITCH scan the beach for any possible dangers, while keeping an eye on the yacht.

C.J.
I’m not liking this, guys. Something is definitely going on.
MITCH
Call the authorities, C.J. This doesn’t look right.
Just as C.J. finishes the call, an explosion rocks the yacht, sending debris flying through the air and creating a massive wave that heads straight for the beach.
CODY

Clear the beach! Get everyone out of the water! NOW!
C.J. and MITCH join CODY in a desperate effort to evacuate the beach while the massive wave rapidly approaches.

As he nears the water, he notices NEWBIE LIFEGUARD, an eager but inexperienced lifeguard, attempting to set up a flag near the shoreline.
MITCH
(Newbie Lifeguard!)
You're setting that up incorrectly. You need it to be more visible to the swimmers.
NEWBIE LIFEGUARD
(Embarrassed)
Thank you, Mitch. I'll fix it right away.
Mitch continues jogging, the iconic theme song ('I'll Be Ready') starts playing as the credits roll.

Baywatch: A Step Close to the Edge
INT. BAYWATCH HEADQUARTERS - DAY
Mitch Buchannon (MITCH) stands near a table covered with maps, while his fellow lifeguards GARNS, C.J., and ALANNA congregate around it. The sun is shining brightly through the large window.
MITCH: Alright, team. I've received word that there's going to be an increase in surf and rip currents over the next few days. We need to stay alert and prepared.
GARNS: Do you think there's a chance of major incidents?
MITCH: I hope not, but we need to be prepared for anything.
C.J.: We've always handled it before. We've got this.
ALANNA: Yeah, we're the Baywatch team. No challenge too big for us.
MITCH: Alright everyone, great enthusiasm! Let's get your stations set up and keep an eye on the tides.
The lifeguards gather their gear and head out the door.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
The Baywatch lifeguards set up their lifeguard stands and flags to signal swimmers where it's safe to venture into the water. The waves are slightly larger than usual but manageable.
As Mitch surveys the beach, he notices a YOUNG SURFER struggling in the water. He quickly takes off towards the water, alerting the rest of his team.
MITCH: C.J., Garns! We've got a swimmer in trouble out there!
They grab their rescue gear and run towards the water.
EXT. OCEAN - DAY
Mitch and his team swim towards the struggling surfer. As they get closer, they realize the current is stronger than they anticipated.
C.J.: This rip current is relentless!
MITCH: Stay together! We won't let it beat us.
Finally, they reach the young surfer and begin the process of getting him back to shore. The YOUNG SURFER is exhausted and struggles to stay afloat.
YOUNG SURFER: Thanks, I... I didn't think I'd make it.
MITCH: We've got you. Just hold on tight.
As they near the shore, they see a CROWD has gathered to watch their rescue. The lifeguards carefully navigate through the surf, avoiding jagged rocks and maintaining their grip on the surfer.
EXT. BEACH - DAY
C.J.: (panting) We've got to get more support out here. These currents are not to be underestimated.
ALANNA: (panting) Agreed. Who knows how many more swimmers we'll need to save?
MITCH: (determined) Then that's what we'll do. We're putting in for extra support to manage this situation. In the meantime, we're on full alert.
Just then, a REPORTER and her CAMERA CREW approach Mitch and the team.
REPORTER: Mitch Buchannon! What can you tell us about the rogue currents striking our shores lately?
MITCH: We're doing everything in our power to keep everyone safe. But, we need the public to be vigilant and avoid going into the water where rip currents are present.
C.J.: Listen to the lifeguards, and stay within the safe swimming zones.
REPORTER: There you have it, folks. Exclusive advice from the Baywatch team.
The Baywatch team watches the reporter and her camera crew leave the beach.
ALANNA: When did dangerous currents turn into media events?
MITCH: It's a sign of the times. Come on, we have work to do.
As they prepare for the next crisis, something in the distance catches Mitch's attention. There's an unexplained DRASTIC SURGE in the waves. The situation appears to be escalating.
MITCH: (worried) I don't like the look of this, team. Strap in. It's going to be a rough few days.
